White Chocolate Brownies

If you haven’t ever been to Moxie’s (a large restaurant chain in Canada), I would highly recommend it. Their white chocolate brownie is to die for.  It packs around 1300 calories a piece because their giant serving size is topped with ice cream, whipped cream, and of course, chocolate sauce.  1300 of the most amazing calories you will ever eat.

A former co-worker gave me this recipe and I have to say – it is so darn close to Moxie’s, it’s scary.   Melt in your mouth sinful.  “Somebody stop me now before I have a 3rd piece” kind of amazing.

I had this recipe for a few years before I finally gave it a try, and I can’t believe I’ve missed out on eating it for so long.  That’s probably a good thing though.

White chocolate melted together with sugar and butter, and blended into a cake batter….it sounds decadent just reading it!  Unfortunately, I completely forgot to drizzle mine with chocolate sauce because I was in such a rush to taste it – but next time I’ll be sure to do that.

Make sure and serve warm, topped with ice-cream.  You will be very thankful you took my advice.

  • Add flour, baking powder and salt. Stir until mixed and cool to lukewarm. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Spread evenly in a greased 8 inch square pan.

I made a very silly mistake and forgot to add sugar on the second step but took the batter out of the oven when I realized what I’d done and added some sugar. Will they still turn out okay?

Thanks Wendy! It’s always better when I’m cooking during the day…but I only get the chance the odd weekend!! I can’t wait until summer is here so that it will be lighter out. Either that, or when I get a better camera and take a photography course…whichever comes first. ;)

I just took mine out of the pan! Sooo yummy, I can’t wait till I can share it with my family! I think this tastes better than the ones from Moxies.
Super simple recipe to follow, and I love the microwaving the white chocolate, it’s so much easier and much quicker then melting in a pot on the stove. (I’m going to try this with other recipes)

    Thankyou so much for this!

Mine did not turn out anything at all like the Moxies brownies.. plus they took almost twice as long to as your recipe suggested! Any idea what could be up?

      Hi Ty,

Sorry for such a late reply! I’ve only made this dish once…the time I posted, so haven’t had much time to experiment with them. You used an 8-inch square pan with the same measurements as what was posted? Do you live in a higher altitude area? I’m smack in the middle of the Canadian prairies, and I’ve heard that cooking time varies quite a bit out east or west where the altitude is higher.

When you say they didn’t turn out like the Moxie’s ones…in what way? Did they taste different? Different consistency?

We’ll get to the bottom of this!

Maybe you can try dusting the chocolate chips with some flour before incorporating into your mixture. This usually works for me.

My friends and I made these the other day, they were amazing. We made two, the chocolate chips melted in the first one which distorted the flavour a bit, but it was still good. Second time, we let the whole mix cool for several minutes before adding the chips and it came out perfect and super even.

R.A. – I’m glad you liked them! Maybe the experience you had with the chocolate chips melting in is what made it taste different for Ty, who commented above?

Well made them this weekend, should have let the batter cool before adding the chocolate chips, I used milk chocolate instead of semi sweet, chocolate melted, did not have an 8inch square pan, used a round one instead, for some reason the edges hardened when it cooled, the boyfriend rated them good for the first time making them, but practice bakes better.. the were gone the next day, so he must have enjoyed them..will make them again..8$ at moxies for a piece is steep,so making them will be a treat for him..

Hi Noor! I hope they still turned out tasty! Next time I would let the batter cool for a few minutes until lukewarm before adding the chocolate chips. I’ve added that to the instructions. :)

Great recipe! Thank you. Have you doubled this recipe? A friend wants moxie style brownies for his birthday so I was wondering – To double this, do I cut back on the leavening agents, in your opinion?
    Thanks!

      Hi Celina!

I wouldn’t change any of the ingredients….just double them all and use a bigger pan – a 9×13 would work fine. Watch the cooking time carefully though, since you’ll have a different thickness with a bigger pan. Keep using a toothpick to check doneness.

Let me know how it turns out!

Its been some time since I posted – had to come hunting for this recipe – we went out last night and went to Moxies – they’ve changed the menu but the White Chocolate Brownies are still on it and yummmmm – they changed the presentation on it a bit – they placed it on a small pool of chocolate sauce and only one scoop of vanilla ice cream and a bigger dollop of whip cream in a large white bowl – it was ohhh Heaven – and now guess what the darling BF asked for me to make for him – lol glad I have all the ingredients lol – but I have chunky chocolate to put in this time lol – mmm dessert for tonight

          Sorry to hear that Rae!

What size of pan did you use? If you used an 8×8 and followed the recipe exactly, your oven might be a bit different than mine. You could try lowering the temperature and cooking for longer (maybe 300°F for 40-45 minutes?). If you try that, let me know how it works!

Delicious!! Definitely a keeper! I used the 2/3 cup of sugar measurement and it was still a little sweet. I also doubled the batch and cooked them in a 9 x 13 glass pan which took about 40-45 mins to donness… Oh and good thing i doubled the batch because my kids and my husband devoured over half of the pan as soon as it was out of the oven!

HI there! I realise this is quite an old post, but I’m coming back to it for the second time now as I prepare to make these again for dessert tomorrow. I made them for my in-laws over Christmas, and instead of mixing in the chocolate chips, I simply sprinkled chocolate chips in the bottom of the pan, and then poured the batter over-top. Perhaps this would solve the problem anyone has of the chocolate chips melting into the batter? Plus it ensure the chocolate stays at the bottom as it is at Moxie’s :) Letting the batter cool would also work of course! But sometimes there’s no time for that ;)
Thanks for this recipe! Excited to have them again tomorrow. Cheers.

Amazing recipe, followed it exactly and it came out great. I used Kirkland semi-sweet chocolate chips and it kept its shape. This was the second receipt I tried, initially I tried the one from copycat and it didn’t call for baking powder. Also mentioned to cook at 300f not 350f.
Thanks for posting this recipe I’ll be sharing it with many.
