What’s almost as good as homemade butter tarts? Homemade butter tarts in square form! Actually, it could be argued that the squares are better because they’re way less hassle and yet still so tasty. But that’s up to you to decide!

Butter Tart Squares
Servings: 9 servings
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tbsp brown sugar packed
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8x8 inch square pan.
- Mix together butter, flour, and 2 tbsp brown sugar. Press into prepared pan. Bake for 15 mins in preheated oven.
- Mix remaining ingredients together and pour filling over baked bottom layer. Bake for 20 mins in preheated oven. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
